Discovering what you truly are
Posted on 05.14.08 5:10PM under Bob Adamson, Gilbert Schultz, Podcast
This is the third program in the pointers series examining Bob Adamson’s pointer that the answer is not in the mind – “Full stop, pause a thought, what is wrong with right now if you don’t think about it?” he tells us.
Included in the program is a short introduction by Gilbert Schultz. Most of the excerpts of Bob Adamson come from three CDs – ‘Sailor’ Bob Adamson – companion audio CD to the book “What’s Wrong With Right Now, Unless You Think About It?” – “Conversations on No-Thing” volumes 1, 2, and 3 (which form the text of his book “Presence-Awareness, Just This and Nothing Else”).
A transcript of the program is available.

Hello,
First of all I want to say, that I loved very much listening to all 7 radioshows.
Als the way its edited and the beautifull music, that for me makes this into a meditation experience. Beautifully done !
Suggestions for next subjects could be: What about the difference that’s being made between concioussness and awareness. Apparantly the first is somewhat of an imposter since it’s aware of the mind and everything that appears in it. How to make the discernment between concioussness and awareness. If someone would say “Well you are aware of the letters you’re typing and seeing on the screen. Well that everyday ordinary awareness That’s It!” But apparantly the same can be said about Concioussness (the way John Wheeler uses it or Burt Jurgens: “Conciioussness is an instrument of awareness”). So will the real awareness stand up please?, I’m asking my self.
And if the ordinary everyday awareness that’s aware of these squigless that are appearing on this screen is it, then where do i find the “concioussness”. And are we still speaking of non-duality when this awareness is aware of those squigles over there (subject-object)?
Anyway GREAT show, its a wonderfull listening experience!, and keep up the good work. I keep relistening them to find that missing link;-)
Best regards,
tomasz, Belgium

Thank you so much for your feedback – it is a good source of ideas we can incorporate into the program. There is a program coming up next that addresses your question in a different way (as they all address it) and in it, Stephen Wingate suggests that instead of listening to others ‘experiences’ and definitions about what reality is, look and see for yourself, from your own direct experience, what it is. He guides us through such an investigation. Let us know what you think.

Thanks for the shows Areti. Looking forward to Stephen Wingate!

Thanks Alan. Stephen Wingate’s podcast will be up early next week. It’s great! His challenge to us to examine what our direct experience is can leave you with no doubt as to what you are – or at least it directs you to that so you can look and see for yourself. Who else but you can examine the truth of what is being pointed to in non-duality? Also, coming up is an excerpt from a new cd of Bob’s (Bob unedited (and uninterrupted)) which is amazing. It is of two meetings we had with Bob where he spoke without interjection from the ‘mobsters’, first for 50 minutes at the beginning of one meeting, and then for 20 minutes at the end of another where both Mark West and John Wheeler were present. Cool! He said stuff in that last 20 minutes that none of us had heard quite put like that!! That should be up in a fortnight after Stephen’s is up, the cd may or may not be ready for sale at that point. In essence, it is a compilation of all of Bob’s pointers, one after another. So amazingly direct.

I just came across this interesting quote on the internet:
“In Jewish mysticism there is a concept called tzimtzum – “contraction.†According to this idea, in order to create the world God needed first to withdraw from it – so that the earth and her creatures wouldn’t drown in an ocean of divine omnipresence. What we view as God’s distance can be, in truth, just the opposite. What seems to us like indifference can be, to God, an expression of love – a way of letting destiny unfold, of preserving human freedom, of giving us room to breathe”
Niles Elliot Goldstein
The Urban Guru Café is that room where we can breathe and where is spoken about the Unspeakable , so we all can do some skinnydipping while we’re still there to enjoy it

Skinnydipping? What the Bleep? Yadda yadda – God is a concept that appears nowhere other than in (your) ‘awareness’. If you had not been told about ‘God’ it is unlikely you would have ‘dreamed him up’ yourself. Let the God squad deal with God. In the most ordinary way, one can see that everything without exception, including the concept of ‘God’, is an appearance in ‘this knowing presence’ – in this ‘I am-ness’. The labels we use get stale and repetitious – but the ‘presence’ that each and everyone of us is, is forever fresh – untouched and un-interrupted by ‘any thing’. Recognize that. Presence is undifferentiated, ‘no thing’, and yet it ‘appears’ as everything. Endless thinking brings weariness.
Why ignore the simplicity of what is known without doubt? Your own existence is not negotiable. See that all these concepts we use are just concepts. Arguing about what someone says about non duality is pointless. Direct and immediate ‘Knowing-understanding’ is wordless and silent. Stick with that knowing – everything reveals itself naturally in THAT.
“Blessed are the meek- for they will inherit ‘the New Earth’”.

I would say Amen to that,
But if we take the label away… (God as the I AM that I AM)
“That which you like most, that itself is ‘I am’, the conscious presence. But that is not going to last forever. ” Nisargadatta Maharaj
… we’re still in the realm of appearances, no?
Posted by gilbert on 05.26.08 9:24 am
WHO is in the realm of appearances? See that that is only a concept that appears in or on awareness – what you truly ARE is not ACTUALLY ‘appearing’ as a ‘thing’ anywhere at all. Knowing that invisible ‘fact’ is enough. What else is there? Everything is an appearance yet the essence of what you are is not visible, audible or sensible – it provides the ‘ground’ for all the senses.
Well, this is not meant to be a forum for cross talk, so let’s leave it at that. Blessings to no one. – Gilbert.
