Hello world!

But the world is an illusion.
The UGC is functional, once again… or dysfunctional, depending on your perspective. We have a new look, some new functionality, and have made an attempt, through user registration and comment ratings, to clean up the comments section according to the many recent complaints. There is a new Policy tab at the top of the site, which provides details about these new additions.
If you find any technical issues, have any feedback or ideas about how to improve the reader experience at the UGC, you are welcome to comment.
Thank you

Very nice upgrade.
Two points though:
The background is really DARK, to dark.
The font of the comments is quite small which makes for more difficult reading.
Both minor points of course.

Not sure about this new format. Quite difficult to read on a mobile which is what i and i imagine many others access the met with now. Interesting to notice after looking at the new style list of ugc speakers that men outnumber women by 12 to 1 ! Anyhow its all good and very, very much appreciated. Mark uk

Nice new look guys.
It would be helpful if the UGC speakers links could provide links to their UGC podcasts and a link to their websites, rather than just going straight to their websites.

Great idea Linda. There is now a new selection – Podcasts by Speaker. If you drop down the list and select the UGC Speaker, you will go to a page where you see all posts from them.

Will staff also adhere to the guidelines of having their comments only pertain to the podcast and avoiding personal attacks? (other than ‘housekeeping’)
So far so good. Best wishes to all.

The new look of UGC has only enhanced the integrity already established at this wonderful site imho.
Job well done!

Most e-groups have a way for members to e-mail with each other off line. Any chance you might have that option here?

Richard you really need to get out of the house more often and make some friends. As it is you can write in the comment pages and some can reply as I am doing.

Richard,
The option of private messaging with other readers isn’t a default function of WordPress. There are a few plugins for this. If this becomes something most readers are asking for, we will look into adding that functionality.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.

Areti,
Thanks for the feedback.
From time to time Gangaji gives radio interviews. I think she would be a good guest.
My last suggestion received 2 thumbs down. Are people supposed to be rating suggestions or just rating whether a post fits within the guidelines? I really don’t know but suspect it’s the latter.

Richard,
The rating is to vote if a comment seems unrelated to the podcast or post, and is an erroneous personal attack or unnecessary drama. A comment will be hidden from view if it exceeds the net number of negative votes.
It is intended to give readers the power to hide comments which detract from the positive experience. It is only intended to be used for this purpose, and voting is restricted to one vote per reader per comment.
This threshold is now set to net 10 negative. It will be tweaked as necessary. At that threshold of net 10, many readers will have to vote it off.

Readers can vote thumbs up or down. For whatever ‘reason’ they wish.
Some will try to justify the ‘rejections’ in the best light possible.
‘Try Hard’s’ have thick skin. As I say often “There is NO POINT in pretending to know”. The mind divides and separates – yet it never achieves any separation in ‘reality’.
Gangaji is not a good choice. She is on a ‘I am special – the same old yucky guru trip’ – quite obviously. So many are so over that crap.
All Papaji’s derivations fell into the self-glorification trap.
They have Ramana photos by their side. So deluded.

Thank you, thank you. Superb upgrade – immediately answering my previous question about itunes link etc. Am now downloading all the previous gems I’d missed. We are so lucky to have this resource, and when my ship comes in I will try to support you. My life has been changing radically since discovering this.
Possible suggestion for a future podcast: Mooji – whom I feel is absolute pure love and light, with a great clarity of teaching. I’m going to be in tiruvannamalai myself later this year, during his satsang period, and have an excellent dictaphone. Would be happy to conduct interview for you guys and send you the file, if that would help.

Teachers who go to Tiruvannamalai are usually parasites on Ramana’s atmosphere. It is just a hill like any other hill. Walking around that hill is not going to do anything except give you blisters. In my opinion Mooji smells of specialness. Anyway, if he suits you then good. If he is genuine then the seeking will cease quickly. Usually seekers just end up adoring the guru, which really is missing the point. Gurus who have hoards of followers are most usually not delivering a clean message, other wise the followers would be set free quickly, instead of ‘creating’ a life style thing. The followers get very protective of their guru, which just shows up the fact that no one is getting the message. A guru who says all the right things is not necessarily genuine at all. They just follow the trends and ‘pinch’ direct pointing from other sources.
That is my opinion.
