Beautiful and simple, very down to earth, no stories, life goes on sort of ;-) I listened to your other interviews and just love the ordinariness of THIS All. It seams like this huge revelation of Truth is just served as a meal over dinner table hehe love it...just rambling ;-)

Hi Suzanne, that is great news about you being on conscious.tv they have some great interviews. I also thought Gilbert's reply as always was great and regardless of what a person looks like or sounds like does not matter and variety in appearances is a very good thing since what works for one person may not for another.

Kool. Don't forget to get a plug in for the UGC when you get on live TV. You are welcome to come to the UGC virtual site for the meetings there if you wish - that applies to anyone interested.

Hi Ronna, I hear what you're saying. I guess that appearance, flowing in and out of awareness - some of it can be described as conditioning. And the mind/body thingy, being human, is conditioned to be concerned with procreation - that is the main task of mind/body thingies! So if some apparent individuals describe my voice as "sexy" or make some comments about how good-looking my photo seems to be, it's understandable. (Not because I'm so terrifically good-looking! I'm over myself. In so, so many ways.) Whatever responses and reactions seem to come up, are just fine. Gilbert's response to your comment is right on the money, and really interesting. Glad to know my lingering persona is not that of Miss Hippie Lips! I'm being interviewed on video for conscious.tv on November 6th, not sure when it'll be posted. However, I'll try to leave the mini-skirt and plunging neckline in the closet! (However, I don't do Birkenstocks.) The message is the message, whatever the appearance of the messenger. And the message is "I can't really help you! You're there already."

When you think there's something missing.....STOP!
When you can't find the words.....STOP!
When it appears that there is confusion.....STOP!
Relax, Awareness can't be lost, found or confused.
Only concepts and ideas can be lost, found or confusing.
Awareness is always Here and Now. Immediate,Transparent and Clear.

Can you ever hold onto anything? You're listening to music - a note comes - it comes in this moment and passes in this moment. Where does it come from? Where does it go?

A thought comes into existence - then dissolves. Is it stored somewhere? Is there a storehouse for these so-called "things"? Where, outside of this moment, is anything?

All that remains of it is a memory. And that memory, when recalled, comes into being and dissolves also in this moment. The recollection and experience of that memory is a present thought. Yes?

Does anything at all exist outside of this very moment? The "present moment"? Take a look at this "thing" we call present, that we call "this moment". Where exactly is it? How big is it? How wide is it? When things and situations come and then go, where do they go?

Is there anything outside of this moment? Isn't this moment the totality of all appearance? Does an appearance exist outside of this moment? We focus on the changing appearances, then we chase after them in memory, anticipate them in imagination. In doing so we miss the immediacy and "singular" or nondual nature of this moment.

We call this moment - The Present. But what does that really mean? What is the official length of time for "present"? We can talk about the present century, the present decade, the present year, the present month, the present day, the present hour, the present minute, the present second...

The second is also divisible mathematically - the present millisecond, the present nanosecond... how far we can divide the present can go on indefinitely with a good calculator. But are we actually dividing anything? No...

So how long is the present? How long is this moment? To know time it is necessary to understand the present, yes?

The present, this moment, NOW - is no length of time. No length of time. Is it not true? No length of time means what? Timeless. Eternal. THIS, right here and now, is the timeless.

So lots of things come and go - if this is seriously looked into we may realize nothing that comes can be held onto, although that's the primary occupation of the mind. Everything comes and goes - so how do we know the present? What is the constant or certain factor of the present or this moment?

That factor or principle is your own presence. The timeless in all situations, beyond time and space, is YOU. We know "this moment". Knowing this moment is knowing yourself, your presence. Are you ever absent or changing?

Find out, discern between what is coming and going, what is changing, and what is not.

Awareness is not a property - not an object - not a condition - not an attribute - not part of what comes and goes. Awareness is that timelessness and limitlessness because of which the changes can be known. Isn't this blindingly obvious yet overlooked in the focus and imagination surrounding the changes?

Whatever sticks to the consciousness will turn rancid quickly. Whatever your 'issues' are they will bring 'you' down one way or another. The perfection of clear and empty cognition is NEVER compromised by the biased nature of mind.
What you are seeing out of has no gender. No amount of pretending to be beyond the mind will EVER take you beyond the mind.
Every expression is THAT. Male and female, black and white, light and darkness are ONE ESSENCE expressing itself without a single division in the ACTUALITY. Be THAT.
There has been a predominance of male speakers. There are plenty of female expressions 'out there' but in my opinion there are not so many who are free of the 'flower power' crap that is so prevalent in gurus and teachers. We are open to suggestions about 'speakers'. Many have been suggested but few 'pass the test'. Usually the first lines on their website betray heavily biased views and lots of belief being woven into their 'teaching'. Some are clever and say the 'right things' but within the space of a paragraph they give away (reveal) their 'bondage to self'.
We at the UGC are not here to send seekers to teacher who collect seekers like flies in a bottle. "Set them free" quickly and painlessly is a good moto. Few gurus adhere to that. Almost all of them pander to their own IMAGE. Someone wrote to me and said that so and so was pure light and love. I say that is total CRAP. If that teacher was worth his salt, you would already KNOW, via his pointing, that he or she are merely an appearance and that YOU are pure light and love.........and in that, they appear and disappear. (Devotees can't understand this point)
So, getting back to the subject, there appears to be value in recognizing your own biased views whatever they are.
The 56 programs on this site are all pretty clear and free of biased guru crap. Whatever 'turns you around' to SEE and recognize your own true nature is totally VALID - no matter what it appears as.
Sex, money fame and promises of blissful enlightenment are all appearances. Enjoy them or ignore them - it makes no difference.
What you ARE has NEVER been incarnated in a body or a world.
'Until' that is known without a doubt, then 'trouble' will arise.
Own it if you want - better to SEE who the owner is.

There are plenty of female expressions ‘out there’ but in my opinion there are not so many who are free of the ‘flower power’ crap that is so prevalent in gurus and teachers. We are open to suggestions about ‘speakers’. Many have been suggested but few ‘pass the test’. Usually the first lines on their website betray heavily biased views and lots of belief being woven into their ‘teaching’. Some are clever and say the ‘right things’ but within the space of a paragraph they give away (reveal) their ‘bondage to self’.
We at the UGC are not here to send seekers to teacher who collect seekers like flies in a bottle. “Set them free” quickly and painlessly is a good moto. Few gurus adhere to that. Almost all of them pander to their own IMAGE. Someone wrote to me and said that so and so was pure light and love. I say that is total CRAP. If that teacher was worth his salt, you would already KNOW, via his pointing, that he or she are merely an appearance and that YOU are pure light and love………and in that, they appear and disappear. (Devotees can’t understand this point)
So, getting back to the subject, there appears to be value in recognizing your own biased views whatever they are.
The 56 programs on this site are all pretty clear and free of biased guru crap. Whatever ‘turns you around’ to SEE and recognize your own true nature is totally VALID – no matter what it appears as.
Sex, money fame and promises of blissful enlightenment are all appearances. Enjoy them or ignore them – it makes no difference.
What you ARE has NEVER been incarnated in a body or a world.
‘Until’ that is known without a doubt, then ‘trouble’ will arise.
Own it if you want – better to SEE who the owner is.

Well this is a little more pot stirring. I have noticed that a few weeks ago there were lots of requests for more women speakers. The podcast for Suzanne appeared and I noticed quite a few comments about her physical appearance, the sexiness of her voice etc. I found this to be a little disturbing. No comments have been made about the physical appearance etc about any of the male speakers. It makes no difference to me what I am most concerned about is what the speaker is pointing to and how they are doing that. As to whether they are male or female is irrelevant to me. I am hoping that podcasts are not determined by the sex of the speaker but by the clarity of their pointing.

So 'the ordinary mug' is full of delightful tea. Enjoy.
This cafe is unique because it is virtually not here and yet the cafe is full with visitors, the menu is blank. Everyone gets served and no one gets a bill. Welcome to ONE and ALL.
"Why did you take so long to get here".

Of course - the expressions simply happen. The mind is dualistic and a bridge makes sense for the mind but for clear and present awareness there is no need of a bridge or poetry. I am simply stirring up some comments. Suki was invited some months ago to join in via an interview and she declined the invitation. We will have another interview with Suzanne soon enough. The numbers registering with the UGC each day is growing steadily. There are 56 programs to listen to and new comers will find so much to sample. I think it is a fabulous 'service' to those who are open to investigating 'their own consciousness' with a genuine interest without the usual servicing of the spiritual self-image (which causes so much confusion for so many).
A big welcome to any new comers - feel free to share your insights and comments. Anything inappropriate will be voted off by the readers quite quickly as you will see.

Just because I am able to, I wonder what you mean Gilbert? Have you read any of Suzanne's blog posts? I think the word 'fancy poetry' comes to mind when it comes to anything to do with 'Suzanne'.

Not everyone 'likes' poetry, not everyone 'likes' plain talk. What does it take to get anybody anywhere anyway? Surely the whole concept here on this podcast is that everything is welcome? Even your comment yes, of course!

And the idea of 'a bridge for someone to cross over' can be nothing but poetry, can it not?

Perhaps Suki should be the next podcaster???? Then she can comment on her own page ;)

Suki, what you express is clear. However for those who have not had a taste of what you are 'speaking about' it may appear to be a bit like fancy poetry. Not everyone likes poetry. Since the comment was made on Suzanne's program page, it may be better to express things in a different manner. This is just my opinion, for what it is worth.
It is as though one needs to provide a 'bridge' for that 'someone' to cross over. If the bridge is made of ephemeral expressions, few will step onto it. In the seeming process of crossing the bridge disappears and one is left as one is, present and aware.

All experience is saturated and suffused with the Mystery of Being.
The Ocean of Being is shore-less,surface-less and bottomless.
All of manifestation is simultaneously illuminated by its radiance and splendor.
All resistance will naturally dissolve, when seen that no separation exists anywhere and that there is just effortless Being.
Being simply IS.
The essence of Being cannot be transcended for IT is transcendence ITSELF.

Suzanne I am really glad you said this, because I think for many people the 'idea' of something happening to prove that they have 'got it' is a HUGE stumbling block to get over. Of course there are actually no blocks or goals or any of that, but even so, sometimes reading or hearing about other people's awakening experiences is a dangerous thing.

Nothing wrong with a bit of danger of course, but it can be like 'they have something I haven't got', and if one gets fixated on trying to define an 'experience' of awakening, well, whatever, eventually one gets so pissed off with trying to get what cannot be gotten, that the search ends, so in fact, it's all OK.......and if it doesn't end then that's still OK.....

but anyway, nice to hear that it is OK....

Looks like we are back on track again after some major hick ups with our previous server. Looks like lots of unique visitors are showing up - the daily visits are looking healthy. There are new features to the site you can check out. You can see how many are on line at present and the chat room will get used quite a bit once it is discovered by a few. Richard for one loves to chat.
Yes it is all in the appearance of things.
You may have noticed that I am making less comments these days on this site. I do write a few notes for my website instead and they are in the 'writings' section on the seeing-knowing site. We should get things back to the weekly program schedule soon at the UGC.
Areti and I both work so the available time to make the programs cuts into our 'free time'. We don't have to do this stuff - but it is fun - and in my opinion, I don't see anything like it 'out there' that provides a clean message free from guru bias and the limited views or overbearing personalities etc. This site can still grow into something quite unique and present 'new voices' on the scene - and some clear pointing is happening 'more and more' it seems. Suzanne is one example. No one knows what will happen next - no one.
Tell your friends about Urban Guru Cafe - get the message out there. Who knows who will be open to the message? Warm regards - Gilbert.

Suzanne,
These podcasts are an absolute gift to me.
Gilbert any further admin tasks that I can do in lieu on payment?
What I normally do with them is listen once, wait a few days and then listen again.
Still have the first hearing circulating around.
What I remember about this apart from your voice (which by the way is not nasal), was the knifey experience whilst washing the dishes.
And your comment (this interpretation anyway) that the knife does not exist, it simply appears in all its knifeyness and the bubbles in all their bubblehood.

And those words keep coming back to me - nothing exists, it all just appears. And yes it is what Gilbert and Randall have been pointing to endlessly, but as a fellow mother in front of a sink full of dishes, something pinged.

So when my one child walks into the room and I immediately have responded in my usual stance, it suddenly dawns on me that this is not reality, this is just an appearance and as such is completely unique and unknown.

Then riding my bike down the village again comes the possibility of Su not existing, of not having substance, of also merely appearing.
And with that the miracle of each appearance is astonishing.
And the liberation of not being someone or something is equally freeing.

Of course the mind will reestablish itself as an object - unless of course it doesn't.

Just had the time and courage to listen to my own, decidedly nasal voice! First, let me apologise for the overuse of "sort of" and "kind of", those markers of noncommittal language; and there is a correction: it's Stanley Sobottka, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Virginia, NOT Kevin Sobottka, who wrote A Course In Consciousness.

Cheryl, have a look at http://www.advaita.org.uk/teachers/teachers.htm to see if there are any in your area. This is Dennis Waite's website, and look out, he's not too fond of modern nonduality! First, let me apologise for the overuse of “sort of” and “kind of”, those markers of noncommittal language; and there is a correction: it’s Stanley Sobottka, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Virginia, NOT Kevin Sobottka, who wrote A Course In Consciousness.

Cheryl, have a look at http://www.advaita.org.uk/teachers/teachers.htm to see if there are any in your area. This is Dennis Waite’s website, and look out, he’s not too fond of modern nonduality! However, he is balanced and willing to list even those teachers and writers he doesn’t agree with. The mind can make direct, simple seeing of reality a real minefield!

With Tony Parsons, it was walking through a park. But there need be no "ah ha" moment, the whole thing can be very gentle and ordinary. There is no formula; there is no time for some process to unfold; this is it. There is no explanation for it. It simply seemed to happen, just like anything else. Apparently, it can happen at any "time".

Hello - wonder if anyone will read to the end of the comments section? Anywho, posting a question on the slight chance of a hit - does anyone know of an authentic non-dual teacher(s) running meetings in the greater Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada part of the world? I was advised to post this request, not really a comment. Thanks everyone!

Richard: The difference is the hair, hair.

Well Suzanne, I didn't want to listen to my podcast either. I did, and I wasn't too impressed. Doesn't matter really, does it?

It was fun hearing your voice after reading so many of your words. Actually, your voice is quite sexy, and Gilbert did an amazing job! The production values were incredibly good.

Free and easy was how you come across. What's not to like about that? I suspect you will be providing a lot more interviews in the near future. I can feel it. You'll do well. Best to you!

Yes, getting to the 'nub' of things is perhaps to do what just happened here and say simply this: Everything is OK whatever, whatever appears to be happening, whatever translation the mind conjures up, whatever the ego judges as good and bad.

What more needs to be added to this? It precludes everything that goes after it (Is preclude the right word to use?).

Well how can this nothingness allude to this magnificence anyway, unless there is expression which is just simply saying 'it is magnificent?'

What more can be done?

Your voice is sweetly nasal and poetic, just like your words on your blog writing too. The 'first' of 'many' interviews arising and dissipating out here, there, everywhere, I believe. ;) I would love to hear more.

Hi Gilbert, Areti and Suzanne,

An interesting thing happened earlier.
I had happened upon Suzanne posting on Randall's site before and there was quite a strong negative feeling that arose.
I could not fault what she said but I did not want to read her writing.
Today, with rain pouring down, I saw that the latest podcast featured her and figured, hell they have not done one that has not resonated and so the play button was pressed.
What a delightful surprise.
I enjoyed each and every moment of it.
Thanks to all concerned.
By the way I like the look of this current Site the best.

Ha - is a reflection afraid of itself? Common Suzanne, take a listen. Your voice is perfect just as it is. And you may hear something in what you yourself have said in some apparently different space-time pattern. It is a program that has a zippy flavor to it - pity to miss it. And in the next interview you can reflect on what the first program contains - thus giving a sense of continuity for our listeners.
I have to not only listen to them all but I have to blend some appropriate music with them as well. So grit your teeth and bare the brunt of listening to your own voice - your friends and family have to listen to your voice, why not you too? Half in jest - warm regards Gilbert.

I have absolutely no idea what I said in the interview. Good thing it doesn't matter! The conditioning of the mind/body thingy makes me reluctant to listen to the interview - always disliked the nasal twang that "my" voice registers to "my" ears on audio playback. And that apparent discomfiture, however much it seems to have to do with the hang-ups of some separate entity, is just discomfiture, slipping away as does every sweet little thing in this playful, painful appearance.

I'm never a big one for telling seekers what to do. But it can't hurt to get to the nub, whatever the nub may be. The concept that nothing is ever wrong seems useful. Nothing is wrong with you, whoever it is that you think you are. However small you seem, you are vast; however lost you seem, being lost isn't necessarily a "bad" thing. However separate your mind says you are, you are not separate. Those thoughts are just little bits of energy, doing exactly what they must. Whatever it is you are looking for is there in the looking. It doesn't matter how the story seems to play out, no matter how sweeping, no matter how painful, no matter how blissful. And all these words are just concepts, and concepts will never do anything to reveal the shameless obviousness of being. Here it is. This is it! Reveling in it is always a possibility.

The conditioning of the mind/body thingy makes me reluctant to listen to the interview – always disliked the nasal twang that “my” voice registers to “my” ears on audio playback. And that apparent discomfiture, however much it seems to have to do with the hang-ups of some separate entity, is just discomfiture, slipping away as does every sweet little thing in this playful, painful appearance.

I’m never a big one for telling seekers what to do. But it can’t hurt to get to the nub, whatever the nub may be. The concept that nothing is ever wrong seems useful. Nothing is wrong with you, whoever it is that you think you are. However small you seem, you are vast; however lost you seem, being lost isn’t necessarily a “bad” thing. However separate your mind says you are, you are not separate. Those thoughts are just little bits of energy, doing exactly what they must. Whatever it is you are looking for is there in the looking. It doesn’t matter how the story seems to play out, no matter how sweeping, no matter how painful, no matter how blissful. And all these words are just concepts, and concepts will never do anything to reveal the shameless obviousness of being. Here it is. This is it! Reveling in it is always a possibility.

NOTE: Tomorrow mornings meeting in Nonduality will be held in the UGC and being at 6am SLT.

Before a concept appears, before anything is evaluated, no matter what it may appear to be, everything is perfect - in the expression, no matter what it is, this 'cosmic perfection' is not altered or changed and yet it is forever changing. The Essence remains as ONE. No 'entity' enters the equation, except in the imagination and the imagination is of course perfect just as it is. Suzanne is like the Pied Piper who comes to town and rids the town of the rats for a fee, then goes off and sells them for profit to some other town where they worship rats. The program fell together with ease and the music, it seems, chose itself. There are no ramifications in really hearing what is being pointed out. Pure intelligence is not 'contained' in any of the expressions or words. Each impression registers cleanly and precisely just as it is - perfect. 'Who' could truly have a problem with any of it? What moves the universe? What moves the thumb in a gesture of up or down? Do you truly know ? - isn't it all perfectly expressing itself, without your permission?

Reality is not exclusive but All-Inclusive.Nothing is exempt.
A multifaceted approach to Self exploration will have better success at the 'relative' level than a generic one size fits all approach to Self Enquiry.
The Reality I speak of is 'YOU'.
The center-less center of perceiving.Infinitely too subtle to be caught in any 'conceptual' trawl net cast by the 'mind'.Yet completely open and effortlessly lucid to all that appears in this seamless continuum of experience.

Suzanne's words weave around and around and seem to point at nothing in particular apart from an intrinsic ease of being, as if all is as it should be and nothing could ever be what it is not and with this insight comes a profundity so deep, so magnificent, yet so mundane and so gloriously insignificant, it is shocking.

And perfect.

Yes, each and everyone of us is a unique conduit of expression of the
multifaceted, undifferentiated wholeness.
Thank you Suzanne and the good-hearted folks at UGC for sharing.

Yes! Suzannes voice is a fresh breeze in the stale advaita scenery. And a truely feminine point of view. So many cramps are released with this unique program. I guess it's hard to add anything after this...

hey, urbanguru,

why does my comment have that mean, angry face on it? i never had a chance in my profile to select a face-thing. i've looked everywhere, but i must say that that graphic does not express my attitude toward suzanne, or anything else, for that matter.

how do i change it?
:)

suzanne is (as we say in rhode island) wicked cool!

all seriousness aside, suzanne's perspective on everything and Nothing includes everyone and NoOne, simultaneously.

in a dual/dueling world, it is re-Freshing to tap into no one's perspective on Oneness (so to speak).
:)
smiles,
