The next program is finished and will be published soon. Thank you one and all for the support and appreciation for this podcast site. We will attempt to keep it rolling along. If you feel the urge, donate a few buckeroonies now and then. There are costs involved not to mention a couple of 'peoples' time and effort.
"Everyone must give back for something they get" = Bob Dylan
What is on offer here is going to rob you of every concept that you may hold dear - but a freedom beyond all description is available - yet when it dawns on you there won't be anyone to appreciate HOW it happened - so be grateful now, while you still can.

Can you be quiet long enough to SEE the truth of what Rumi is pointing at?

Who are you? Whatever That is, is it changing? Is it moving? Is it a "thing" at all? If That which is Always So, always Shining before the next thought appears, is not a "thing" then what is it? Who can say what That really IS? Who would dare to divide God into pieces; the Singular I into two? I and other? How dare we limit God, our Self? Who do we think we are to believe such nonsense? Find out....

If you have not noticed the visitors MAP for the UGC site, it is listed in the top of the page box UGC Pages. Click on it and you see a world map. Low and behold, we have a listener or two in Siberia and several other remote places. A special 'HI' to you all. Tell a friend.

Yes Neo, what you say has some value to it, so it seems.
Some 'teachers' are very clear in their pointing and some are quite sloppy and yet they are usually entertaining for many so-called 'seekers'.
Let me give an example. There is a stone wall that stretches across hills and valleys for what seems like eternity. Someone found a hole in the wall and has suggested to 'others' that if they look through the hole in the wall, they will see reality. The news spreads. Hundreds line up for their turn to look. Other clever 'dudes' go down the wall a way and they drill a hole of their own and start charging a fee to look through the hole. These 'keepers of the hole in the wall' talk to their 'patrons' as they wait in line. These 'dudes' publish thick books in copious quantities about 'reality' seen through 'their hole' in the wall. They wind their patrons up with fabulous stories about how amazing it is to see reality....through their 'portal'.....etc. Some seekers, the highly suggestible types, reel from the view after looking through the hole, thus giving the impression of some 'event' has happened. They tell their story and the whole thing gets blown out of proportion, ad infinitum (Endless Spiritual Bullshit). A momentary view of reality does not make a 'teacher'. Walking in the park or washing the dishes is such a limited ground to base a 'teaching' on. But how hungry is the seeker. They rush off to the nearest park or go wash the dishes and stare at the knife covered with suds. Pity the poor seeker. (Note: I am not having a go at anyone here)
Now, metaphorically speaking, we are all looking through 'a hole in the wall' (mind) and our expectations and pre-conceived ideas 'color' what we see (via Mind translations). This coloration is not the pure SEEING at all. Pure SEEING is un-interrupted for everyone (Every-One).
SEEING reality is not 'out there'. Seeing reality could be described more clearly as an 'In-Seeing'. You KNOW that the world is appearing 'within' what you are and that there is no separation. This SEEING cannot be contrived. It is more like a 'filter' has been stripped away.
The Hills and Valleys are (virtually) the same 'behind the seeker, as those seen through the hole in the wall. The irony of it all is that 'the view' is exactly the same - if any one of these 'seekers' would only 'turn around' that would be obvious and the whole 'game of seeking' would naturally fall away. Most 'teachers' are merchants, they are selling their story - selling themselves. That is so obvious and it belongs to Hollywood more than to anything else. We have some theatrical types on the UGC as well. They are there for contrast but if you look closer, the pointing is still there, clear and obvious. ANYTHING can point you to your true nature - even a pompous guru talking crap.
If you want my 'tip on this matter' - there is no one as clean and as clear on all points about this, as Bob Adamson is. He is 100% genuine and I have NEVER detected a speck of 'personal agenda' in the man. Not everyone who goes to see him is clean and genuine. Over the 9 years I have known him I have witnessed a few and in recent times that number appears to be growing.
ONE ESSENCE reveals itself in them - so long as the investigation 'happens'. No one actually does the investigation. It is Intelligence in action. ONE Intelligence.
Also, it can be added, that many 'pointers' do not have much value until what they are pointing to has been tasted. All confirmation to any pointer comes from the KNOWING of its truth. It may come instantly or it may dawn on you. In any case one 'thing' is common.
There is no 'person' in the SEEING-KNOWING. That revelation is for no one - and yet there appears to be someone who witnesses the revelation. When the KNOWING is naked and true, there is no one there to claim anything. That is the difference that is quite obvious 'here'. In fact it is so obvious it requires no thinking about it. It is known more or less instantly.
Thank you for your comment. Your comment may be unpopular and there is a 'reason' for that. But what we are talking about is beyond 'reason'. Actually many of the things I point out and express have been unpopular also - that is why my website has many less visitors than say the UGC. Few truly want to 'go the whole way' - they merely want to entertain the concept of being a 'spiritual person'.
Warm regards - Gilbert.

These ‘keepers of the hole in the wall’ talk to their ‘patrons’ as they wait in line. These ‘dudes’ publish thick books in copious quantities about ‘reality’ seen through ‘their hole’ in the wall. They wind their patrons up with fabulous stories about how amazing it is to see reality….through their ‘portal’…..etc. Some seekers, the highly suggestible types, reel from the view after looking through the hole, thus giving the impression of some ‘event’ has happened. They tell their story and the whole thing gets blown out of proportion, ad infinitum (Endless Spiritual Bullshit). A momentary view of reality does not make a ‘teacher’. Walking in the park or washing the dishes is such a limited ground to base a ‘teaching’ on. But how hungry is the seeker. They rush off to the nearest park or go wash the dishes and stare at the knife covered with suds. Pity the poor seeker. (Note: I am not having a go at anyone here)
Now, metaphorically speaking, we are all looking through ‘a hole in the wall’ (mind) and our expectations and pre-conceived ideas ‘color’ what we see (via Mind translations). This coloration is not the pure SEEING at all. Pure SEEING is un-interrupted for everyone (Every-One).
SEEING reality is not ‘out there’. Seeing reality could be described more clearly as an ‘In-Seeing’. You KNOW that the world is appearing ‘within’ what you are and that there is no separation. This SEEING cannot be contrived. It is more like a ‘filter’ has been stripped away.
The Hills and Valleys are (virtually) the same ‘behind the seeker, as those seen through the hole in the wall. The irony of it all is that ‘the view’ is exactly the same – if any one of these ‘seekers’ would only ‘turn around’ that would be obvious and the whole ‘game of seeking’ would naturally fall away. Most ‘teachers’ are merchants, they are selling their story – selling themselves. That is so obvious and it belongs to Hollywood more than to anything else. We have some theatrical types on the UGC as well. They are there for contrast but if you look closer, the pointing is still there, clear and obvious. ANYTHING can point you to your true nature – even a pompous guru talking crap.
If you want my ‘tip on this matter’ – there is no one as clean and as clear on all points about this, as Bob Adamson is. He is 100% genuine and I have NEVER detected a speck of ‘personal agenda’ in the man. Not everyone who goes to see him is clean and genuine. Over the 9 years I have known him I have witnessed a few and in recent times that number appears to be growing.
ONE ESSENCE reveals itself in them – so long as the investigation ‘happens’. No one actually does the investigation. It is Intelligence in action. ONE Intelligence.
Also, it can be added, that many ‘pointers’ do not have much value until what they are pointing to has been tasted. All confirmation to any pointer comes from the KNOWING of its truth. It may come instantly or it may dawn on you. In any case one ‘thing’ is common.
There is no ‘person’ in the SEEING-KNOWING. That revelation is for no one – and yet there appears to be someone who witnesses the revelation. When the KNOWING is naked and true, there is no one there to claim anything. That is the difference that is quite obvious ‘here’. In fact it is so obvious it requires no thinking about it. It is known more or less instantly.
Thank you for your comment. Your comment may be unpopular and there is a ‘reason’ for that. But what we are talking about is beyond ‘reason’. Actually many of the things I point out and express have been unpopular also – that is why my website has many less visitors than say the UGC. Few truly want to ‘go the whole way’ – they merely want to entertain the concept of being a ‘spiritual person’.
Warm regards – Gilbert.

There are a number of "nondual" communications out there that follow a common pattern -- something like this:

"Well, I was a seeker for X number of days/months/years. One day I was walking along, and suddenly everything shifted somehow [fill in the blank]."

And then:
"There is no one. Nothing has ever happened. This is it. So you're suffering like hell? You're seeking and can't stop? That goes on until it doesn't. This is it. It can't be known, it can't figured out. It's just this."

Ok, fair enough. But here's the problem with these kinds of communications.

They say, "There is no one. And nothing has ever happened."
And yet, there was a TIME X amount of years ago, and there WAS such a thing as a "SEEKER" during this point in time? And then, something HAPPENED at which point in time the "seeker" was no more?

But further, this type of communication always seems to reject the teachings of "old masters" as "crap" or "old hooey" -- with reasons like, "this can't be understood, and there is no one who can do anything about it."

Any apparent seeker who knows the agony of seeking and not being able to stop, and who has truly contemplated the teachings of the "masters" with intense earnestness, knows the value of these pointers. The pointers are meant to be EXPERIENTIAL, and have nothing to with figuring anything out.

Relax Suzanne. We have lots of folks to talk to. When the 'spin out' dies down a bit, you may be ready to talk the talk again and hopefully the sound quality will be much better. We try to avoid subjecting the listeners to anything sub standard. Enjoy the family.

A lot of laughter seems to be the appearance!
That appearance...so seductive, despite its illusory nature.
It's difficult to stop the seeker seeking. Seeking continues, I guess, until it doesn't.
Those special states of being are great, and yet another fascinating, diverting bit of the appearance. But as you say, they are not this. They're lovely, but not this.
The mind will indeed do everything it can not to see this. Some minds, however, do seem to commit spontaneous suicide. It's the only story (hope) that seems worth validating...you could "die" at any "time".
This is such a great forum, Gilbert. I'm sorry the sound quality of my second interview was no good...waiting to hear from Areti to set a time and date for a do-over.
Maybe more are laughing than is obvious!
Love, Suzanne.

Tomorrow morning's meeting in Nonduality will be held in the virtual Urban Guru Cafe at 6am (Pacific Time, USA).

Second Life may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you are curious, it is certainly worth a shot. Some of our "regulars" are not technology proficient and can easily navigate through the program. Maybe a few virtual "bumps" and "scrapes", but perhaps you will find it easier than learning to ride a bike.

If you have any questions, please consult the Virtual UGC link or you can email me directly.

Wakefulness IS.
In the ordinary moment of waking from sleep there is pure wakefulness, prior to the mechanistic wheels of the mind and all its words and descriptions. This ordinary wakefulness is what everything appears on.
You cannot lose it and you cannot find it. Every speck of phenomena and every notion appears 'on it' without EVER leaving a mark.
There is no possibility of someone 'awakening' - and there is no possibility of the sun rising or setting. It is all 'appearance' and the appearance is not IT.
The seeker seeking is the problem. Are you asleep? No. Who is seeking? Isn't it simply un-investigated notions about lacking something?
The sense of separation is based on concepts, a story of being separate. Investigate it and SEE that it is not true. Be genuine and simple and SEE.
The one who sleeps and wakes is an appearance on pure wakefulness.
One Wakefulness.
Authors like Ken Wilber inadvertently keep the seeker searching by supplying endless notions about some 'special state of being' and even though some direct pointing may occur 'now and then', the majority of the writing is serving the seeker and the search and that always implies that you are not there yet. Experts on the subject are always caught up in the conceptual network - because that is their livelihood. It puts butter on their bread and puts 'sugar' on their reputation and persona. They usually stink to high heaven of 'very special specialness'.
Non Duality is not a commodity and there truly are no customers for it -THAT = because everyone is already THAT - just this presence right now - AS IT IS. Only the mind wants to change it and it can't - it will try every which way but loose - and it fails over and over and over again.
It is such a joke but few are laughing.

Randal posted this quote on his blog:

Early morning, the orange sun is slowly rising, shining forth in empty luminous clarity. The mind and the sky are one, the sun is rising in the vast space of primordial awareness, and there is just this. Yasutani Roshi once said, speaking of satori, that it was the most precious realization in the world, because all the great philosophers had tried to understand ultimate reality but had failed to do so, yet with satori or awakening all of your deepest questions are finally answered: it's just this."

The mind may very well take these suggestions and conclude that they're just a "load of old hooey" -- but of course that would be to the miss the point entirely, because if you really look at what I was saying the suggestion is not to try and figure anything out, but rather to LOOK and SEE what is being pointed to outside of ALL concepts -- including CONCEPTS like "this is it! this is it!"

Just a reminder to newcomers that there are some excellent programs on this site. Peter Brown and Paul Hedderman are recent programs and the 4 interviews with Bob Adamson are tops. Check out Randall and John Wheeler too. If you have any problems downloading or listening to the programs please let us know about it. . . Warm regards - Gilbert.

Eric, Have a look at your question(s) again.
They are all conceptually based quite obviously.
The mind divides it into 'the real me' and the 'not real me' (There is NO me anywhere, real or unreal) - and the mind is time.
WHO wants to know the answers? Will that 'who' be happy with any answer?
In the waking state 'thinking' about the sleep state happens.
In the sleep state there is no thinking about the waking state.
Dreams that are interpreted as dreams about being awake are interpreted in the waking state.
Awareness does not go anywhere. It is NOT in time and it is everywhere, when and how. Awareness IS everything but not as it appears to be.
Reality is not one nano-second AWAY from what you truly ARE.
It is only a concept that SEEMINGLY divides Reality.
Reality is the changeless THAT-NESS beyond all conceptualizing and naming. You cannot NAME reality in actuality - you can only BE THAT.
In Being THAT where is the need for names? All descriptions are mind stuff appearing and disappearing.
Pointing and talking happens and apparent 'others' seemingly 'enter' into their own 'waking up' but even that is part of the dream.
You are THAT - that ONE without a second. There is NO OTHER, except in conceptualization (appearance).

What happens to us when we sleep?

Is our true nature such that there's no appearance of the real me when I'm unconscious? The real me is nothing at times - when I am not able to sense "I am". Then at other times "I am" awake and full of sensations.

If there's some constant pre-conceptual awareness - where does that awareness go when I'm not around to be the bridge of awareness and form?

Here is a passage from Mark West's book of meetings with Nisargadatta.
March 31st 1977: <em>"The entire objective world rises and sets with this consciousness of I AM. This consciousness has the infinite power to become whatever it wants to become, but this again will only be so in the dream and not in Reality. For in Reality nothing has ever happened or changed at all. You see we don't have to learn anything, as a matter of fact we have to unlearn everything, de-condition ourselves completely and let go of all concepts and ideas, for words and ideas are not real."</em>
Mark's book is titled <em>"Gleanings from Nisargadatta"</em> and is available through his website....which is called markwestsite.com

There is NO answer in the mind. Nothing you can postulate, conceptualize or think of is what you truly are.
All 'we' have is phenomena, via impressions, of a world 'we' believe we are IN. That is due to the belief in 'me' and 'not me'. Separation is a concept held together by those beliefs. Remove the belief in 'me' and the sense of separation dissolves. That confirms what I am saying but few are willing to be nothing 'long enough' to get a really good taste of it.
The mind will play with concepts endlessly. Some notions may 'appear' to make 'you' feel good about your-self. Others will 'appear' to make 'you' feel vulnerable etc. It all APPEARS and what you truly ARE has never appeared. As it says in the ancient text, "The sword can't cut it, the wind can't dry it, the water can't drown it and the fire can't burn it." Retrace your 'steps' back into the silence of pure cognition.
The conviction necessary is 'there'. Once it is tasted NOTHING can remove the conviction because it is beyond all things and all conditions. These words are just words - what they are pointing at is wordless, silent KNOWING. THAT is what you are.
The mind may respond with disregard or objections. SEE it for what it is.

As Neo says below, content...context...whatever. Suki and I are saying the same thing. Your mind will mince words and try to figure it out until the cows come home. Your mind will take Neo's suggestions via the old masters and perhaps come up with "this is a load of old hooey". It can't be figured out because it's too simple. It is just whatever is now. The awareness and the perception are one. This is it.

Well I see that awareness isn't a thing as all things constantly change. There must be no-thing for thing, and that no-thing is clearly aware otherwise there would be not even nothing.

There is no "awareness." You will never find anything that you can point to and say "Look! there it is! Awareness! The Pure capacity for energy! i see it now!"

"Awareness" can be a useful pointer sometimes, but if you THINK there is a THING called "awareness" then you are completely missing the point.

there is nothing to find or talk about or philosophize about it any way.

recognize WHAT seeking is. do you notice the movements of seeking? of looking for SOMETHING? notice how the mind LOOKS for things. this activity of looking APPEARS. How can it find that which it appears to??? ie, how can it find "awareness"?? the key here is to see that it is not possible to find what you're looking for. when this is clearly seen, then thinking about what "it" is or isn't becomes totally absurd.

The context and the content are not two. Getting hung up on words will just throw you into a perpetual spin -- although if that's what thought is doing then there's no choice in it anyhow.

Ramana advised people to ask, "to whom/what do these thoughts appear?" Notice that the moment you ask the question, a movement of thought tries to find the observer (or "awareness"). The movement is a neurological reflex to seek. Now ask yourself, how could thought ever find that which it appears to? If "awareness" or the "watcher" (or whatever term you prefer) could be found, wouldn't there have to be yet another awareness prior to that one? In seeing this, suddenly the meaning (or non-meaning) of "no-thing" becomes apparent. And so you rest as you are, knowing that there is is nothing to find.

A simple way of intuiting that Oneness is already perfectly present, is to simply notice that your thoughts APPEAR in the same way that everything else does. In other words, notice the sounds registering , and notice the auditory thoughts, or the visual sensations and the visual thoughts -- both are appearances. Really thoughts are also sensations. To whom or what do these appearances arise? Is there a separate thing back there behind all appearances watching everything? Notice, again, the movement of thought that arises to try and find whatever is watching. That movement of thought is the "me" -- notice the contracted or tugging sensation in the body as it tries to find awareness. This reaction is totally mechanical, and it happens everytime without fail whenever you ask the question. Now clearly if the subject (me) is an appearance it cannot actually be a subject! As Huang-Po said, "The perceived cannot perceive."

Of course, you cannot really make any accurate statements about reality whatsoever, because to do so implies that your concepts are somehow separate from reality -- that is to say, my concepts are over "here" and reality is over "there".

Scarfox,
What you ARE never appears.YOU are the CONTEXT for all appearances.
The appearances, regardless of what they are, ie;fan, monitor, furniture, etc,
are CONTENT that arise in YOU. There is never any Separation, however there
is distinction and contrast such as 'you' and 'me',high and low, black and white, this and that, etc.

Note:'Mind' and thoughts are CONTENT. They appear to YOU. The SEEING of this, is obviously NOT in the 'mind'!

Warm regards - Suki

Hey Eric, words are concepts, and concepts are not at all what is trying to be described. That's the problem with these pointers - I AM THAT or "everything is unconditional love" or what have you. Sure, the mind will poke its nose in and try to claim everything in the name of whichever personality, in my case Suzanne, Writer About Oneness, Mom, Wife and Artist Who Also Likes To Roller Disco. But that personality isn't what I AM is pointing to; it's just simple, ordinary direct presence, unfiltered reality; very simply, everything happening just as it is and as it always "has". Not being figured out, just being. It isn't "good" to be nothing, nor is it bad. And the thing is, that once the letting go (or whatever) has happened, what is left is life, just as it is, as it always has been, and the beauty of it, of every little apparent bit of it. But you DON'T "have to be this nothingness or awareness", or rather, you don't have to be anything other than what you are. "You are that" whether the mind accepts it, or not, or still seems separate, or not. There is nothing you (the personality) have to do. You're doing it.

Scarfox,
Your true nature can neither be forgotten or remembered. It alone remains
through out eternity. It is ever present.
The manifestation of all phenomena (including bmo)arises in or on your true nature. What you are does not change.
Right NOW,this very instant everything is appearing to YOU.
What that YOU is,cannot be described but is undeniably Present.
Within this Presence is consciousness of bmo and the entire manifested
Universe. Just as this bmo appeared so it will also disappear.
This coming and going of experiences does not in the slightest disturb
what YOU ARE.

Warm regards - Suki

Hmm I think I have changed my mind about you, but I should stop intellectualizing about this if its possible to have that choice. I expected that to be the kind of straight answer I was going to get if someone gave it, so gotta start knifing suds more or recognizing... Thanks, now I just need to figure out what Suki meant about forgetting after death.

Wait, so realizing your true nature gets forgotten after death, and it is just like prior to birth of BMO? Whats the point if im going to be unaware of myself again? Or do you mean this is a permanent knowing even after physical death of bmo? Very confusing suki.

That is a "perfect" response! Eric's question is very good and I was wondering what kind of response he would get. Your response is very clear and concise. Thanks

Eric,
Can you deny that you ARE?
Surely this is self evident is it not?
Who can say I AM not?
Here is the thing. You know that you ARE and it is HERE and NOW
in the immediacy of this moment. This is irrefutable!
But can you describe what you ARE?

You cannot identify with what you ARE. Only with what you are NOT.

When I read "YOU ARE THAT" - a tendancy appears to try to go for yet another identification. Like, oh I'm not this self entity but I am this awareness. But isn't it more like "you are not"? That it's not about finding that awareness is "me" but about letting go of a "me" in realizing the "me" is not really there?

The only thing that "I" can be is something that can be identified with. If there's truly nothing seperate to be identified with - then wouldn't that be the case for no real "I" being there?

I am not awarenss. I am not the advaita police with that - but what your true nature is, is not something that can be turned into anything personal. As far as I can gather.

What good is it to be nothing? Whatever appears also disappears - ok. But how long have you seen the exact same mountain? It's going to be there all my life. Appearances come and go - but some are so persistant that they are not going anywhere. Why not be attahced to those apperances if they are here to stay? Including the self entity? It's here for the rest of my biological life - why work at wishing it's not really here? Why the need to see that truth?

I loved the question Areti asked in one of these recent podcast: "Why is it that you have to be this nothingness or awareness? This that doesn't change? Why?".

Scarfox,
What can you recall prior to the appearance of birth?
All experiences happen to a body, mind organism (bmo).
To recall any experience, the bmo needs to utilize thoughts and memory. Both of which are functions of bmo.
Prior to the appearance of birth, there is no bmo and hence no
thoughts or memories. Which means NO SELF AWARENESS.
Note: that does not mean there is no Awareness. Just Awareness
not Aware of ITSELF. (AWARENESS IS WHAT YOU ARE)

Now with the unavoidable approach of the appearance of death for
the bmo, the same case will be applicable.
Will you be able to recall any post experience after the appearance of death?

What you ARE prior to the appearance of birth and what you remain
as after the appearance of death does NOT CHANGE.

YOU ARE THAT.

Yes, we all exchange squiggles, or so it seems. Where do we store them. maybe there is a big pile of squiggles in the back of our heads.
Old squiggles advise new squiggles and a new parade of squiggles is organized and out they march for all to see. Strike up the band and bring out the dancing girls. The Squiggles have arrived. This could be the start of a new religion. The Head of State, Mr. Squiggle has met with Sargent Pepper to arrange a New Years Eve event. But first Sargent Pepper has to teach the band to play. Jiggerish, the word, was coined for nonsensical verse after Jibier the ancient alchemist. His handwriting, like most doctors, was illegible. That is enough squiggles for one paragraph. Good evening and good night - Gilbert.

Thought and feeling are different expressions of the same 'phenomena'. Like ice and steam are different expressions of water.
A thought may appear 'first' and then a feeling appears. Once the feeling has 'established itself' it hangs around because it has a chemical aspect to it. The FEELING of depression feeds the habitual concepts that have been believed in for so long - in the appearance of 'time'. The ONLY way out of that realm of time is by stopping thought. Mind is time - mind it thoughts, concepts, ideas, memory and imagination. Because feelings have chemical aspects they do not fade away instantly - the feeling hanging around will attract the old thoughts and the wheel turns in a predictable manner - repeating patterns. However habits can be broken
Pause a thought and you are out of the mind. In that open view the timeless presence is obvious. Metaphorically, all the rivers of time flow into the Ocean (oneness). The basic nature of Ocean, river, stream and droplet is WATER (H2O). The basic nature of all appearances is emptiness - not a VOID of nothing - clear and empty - pure un-mediated cognition.
Take the meaning out of the story of me and refuse to feed the story with more attention. Face the fear and the death of fear is certain.
The fear of death is based on past experiences (and since you have never died - what is there to fear but imagination about what death MAY be like - you have never died - or you would not be reading this).
The story of me is like a balloon. It naturally deflates if you stop blowing it up. The energy of relaxation and the energy of tenseness is the same energy expressed differently. The relief of ceasing to feed the 'me' with the same old bullshit story lets it deflate.
Just a few words here - just words - squiggly things on a white background - the meaning is added by your own POTENTIALITY.
Use what is pointed out or ignore it.
Regards - gilbert.

The story of me is like a balloon. It naturally deflates if you stop blowing it up. The energy of relaxation and the energy of tenseness is the same energy expressed differently. The relief of ceasing to feed the ‘me’ with the same old bullshit story lets it deflate.
Just a few words here – just words – squiggly things on a white background – the meaning is added by your own POTENTIALITY.
Use what is pointed out or ignore it.
Regards – gilbert.

Jacob, can I add that if you're depressed, and the story of separation and pain and suffering are your reality, please seek professional help if at all possible. It couldn't possibly make things any worse! Lots of love, and hang in there. Everything changes.

Hi Scarfox, I'll attempt to give a straight answer, and I apologise to the authors of this site and to Jason for blog-hogging.

Waiting for death, the end of the story of your life, when I suppose pure awareness, eternity and infinity, are more obvious, is certainly an option. However, your life - the story of it - happens now. It is illusory inasmuch it is just energy, as Einstein realised, organised by the mind into things we feel, see, think, touch etc. Whatever is happening, is happening now, in this endless moment; eternity and infinity are now. The story of life, which can be called consciousness, ending in death, is dependent upon memory and speculation - the past and future - and that memory and speculation are always happening now. Those solid cars and people and computer keyboards that you encounter, your own body, your own brain, are energy, flowing around awareness, that sense of pure existence. That awareness is what you are, not the story. The story is there for its own sake, and can't be gotten wrong. So there is no death, just a story. If the story seems to be about many lives lived over and over - reincarnation - perhaps that is an attempt by the personality, the mind, to stay existent and in control, and to not die. The personality (and its story) mistakenly taken for that pure awareness is what is called separation. The personality can certainly die before the end of the story, and things that are happening are seen for what they are - the play of consciousness, beingness for the hell of it and the heaven of it. So, to directly answer your question, there are no endless cycles of life and death and rebirth, there is just this, this moment, and whatever seems to be happening. Sometimes what's happening is nothing, in dreamless sleep. You are everything and nothing, right now, whether your mind (personality) accepts it or not. And your mind accepting it, or not, is just another fun bit of consciousness, which can be taken very seriously or very lightly and playfully. Either one is just fine. What seems to be happening right now is great affection for you, directly from me to you if you like, I don't mind breaking protocol!

What I want to know is, once the physical body dies doesn't the pure awareness at that point have nothing else to identify with, so does it make a difference whether we wait til death or not, got eternity anyway. Or will you pointers not answer that because you will just get another body until presence is recognized? Straight answers please..

Jacob,

The feelings of depression (whether physical sensations or 'depressing' thoughts) undeniably appear and disappear.

But who is the one that is putting up with this "misery" and "crap"?

It would have to be a "me".

The "me" CANNOT stop seeking or escape because "me" is just a thought, and thoughts don't "do" anything. See the thoughts for what they are....just clouds that appear/disappear (including the thought "me").

If thoughts are paused, recognize that the thought "me" is not present, yet YOU ARE. You are awake, here, present. This is a FACT. Has this certainty of BEING ever changed? Is this certainty ALWAYS present? Can this always-here-ness be negated?

THAT is no-thing
THAT is what you ALREADY ARE
THAT needs nothing, wants nothing
ALREADY whole-complete. a spontaneous, miraculous perfection.

I AM THAT

Hi Jacob, "who" is doing the labelling? This is what needs to be investigated. When it is known that this supposed "who" that is doing the labelling is only an appearance(thought) as all appearances and thoughts are recognition seems to happen and suffering of any kind is seen for what it is . . . check it out, investigate "who you really are" "what you really are".

"Grand events" may seem to happen, or not. Being, I Am, unadorned existence, or whatever it is we call it on Tuesdays is, indeed, the only thing that cannot be deconstructed or denied; it is, in fact, the only thing. Huzzah!
Jacob,

What experience would 'confirm' this certainty? Wouldn't this 'grand event' be yet another transient experience that comes/goes in this ever-present cognizing?

This (non-conceptual) certainty of BEING IS the evidence.

The concept that 'I am waiting' or 'I am watching this presence' is where the 'problem' lies. Where do these concepts appear other than right here in this immediacy - this immediacy is what you are looking for and the one looking for it is the obstacle - the seeker 'who' NEVER finds.
In a pleasant retirement village I inspected some years ago there was/is a closed quadrangle garden space for the elderly to wander about in. In the middle, off to one side, there is a bus stop signpost and a bench to sit on. No road, no bus. What has this got to do with anything?
The 'seeker' is waiting at a fictional bus stop - no bus, no road and plenty of hopeful and yet impossible passengers.
You cannot possibly get out of this presence-awareness (this NOW). All postulations about any coming and going are all fictional and there is not a speck of any 'becoming' whatsoever in BEING. The 'appearance' of becoming is simply the expression unfolding within this unchanging space-like awareness.

Gross or subtle, there is no opposition to Oneness. The appearance has no substance and the suffering is NOT real and the sufferer is NOT real - no matter what any words may express about it.
What suffering was there in the 'knife' or the 'suds'?
Where was the 'sufferer' in that clear view?
That clear view has NEVER come and gone.
It is only the mind stuff that comes and goes.
Whatever expresses 'itself', it is perfect.
Whatever opposition 'appears' is perfect.
Nothing exists outside of this perfection. To imply that there is two where there is only one is just mind stuff.
Where seeing is happening, there is no division into right and wrong - no good or bad.
The word is NEVER the actual - belief is NEVER the actual.
Knowing is 'before' any word appears - it is here while (apparent duration) the word appears and it is here 'after' the word disappears.
'You' imagine a realm of time that is nothing but impressions registering in THIS immediacy, which is NOT divided into past-present-future.
What appears to be subtle is grossly obvious - but the mind's preconceived notions keep the attachment to body mind identity busy and so the obvious is missed over and over - until the knife and suds make themselves clearly obvious - without the baggage of the past (identity).
Words may appear to stimulate contemplation - yet it is NO MIND that 'contains' the wisdom of this immaculate revelation of natural presence.

No one "has" to see oneness. No one, evidently, can. "Feeling a fraud" is a little fun ego thingy, a bit of fear, apparently there, apparently gone just as fast. Just there with the conditioned mind/body, just another fun bit of this appearance; embraced for what it is, and at the same time, no importance given to it, by no one. Enjoyed, but not claimed. You're a belligerent one, Scarfox! Nothing wrong with that Dude.

Well...psychological suffering may be unnecessary, and the story of someone suffering is just that: a story. The urge to help someone may come up...or not. When suffering is there, it's real, and extremely unpleasant; and it's a very satisfying story, when someone is suffering, and that suffering is relieved, by circumstance, by another apparent individual, or whatever. There is never any choice on any level, no matter how well-considered a choice seems to be. Suffering, being separate, helping (or at least trying to help) someone who is suffering, feeling compassion for that apparent sufferer, seeing reality clearly, knowing you are not a mind or body, investing in things that do not exist - no choice. What happens, or seems to happen, happens. All these apparent happenings are light, oneness, whatever we call it early on a Tuesday morning; they are oneness, no matter how much the story is about the illusion of separation. And these words are written simply because they are, and probably because pointing out that everything is oneness - including separation - is another way of potentially relieving suffering; and the only way to relieve suffering is to let go of the personality by seeing that everything is oneness, and there is no separation. So these words and concepts, subtly in dualistic opposition to Gilbert's, are pointing to the very same thing. Funny how it works, duality. Great fun as well!

I AM THAT by which All sensations are KNOWN. I AM THAT by which I know that I AM. - I am NOT 'in' the manifestation.

EVERYTHING is SENSATION for the mind. There are no exceptions - it is all inclusive. What do you know 'outside' of the infinite realm of sensation?
A flawless cut diamond has many facets. What gives it apparent beauty is the absence of internal obstructions (clarity) and of course the light which fragments into sharply defined rays of color that sparkle.
At no point does the light 'become' anything other than light.
In ignorance 'we' try to help 'others' and some of us get caught up in the guru game. It always bites us on the bum because that is the nature of the manifestation.
Whatever you imagine that you gain will be taken away from you.
When you KNOW that you are not the body nor the mind, what can be taken away? What more do you need? Enjoy the display of the infinite variety, all the colors of the rainbow and do not try to grasp a sunbeam and take possession of it. It will burn right through your grasping consciousness and reveal that you are nothing.
Psychological suffering is UNNECESSARY.
But see how much drama unfolds because this believed in 'me' is full of investment in things that do not exist.
It seems that No One wants to really SEE what is truly going on. The fine print on the back of the contract is only read after the shit hits the fan.

Suzanne I thought your podcast was great and am very much looking forward to hearing the next one as well as seeing you on conscious.tv very soon. I have also enjoyed reading your entries in your blog site as well. I know it makes no difference either way just wanted to let you know that I appreciate everyone who contributes here and having a variety of speakers and pointers is helpful for everyone.

Lovely podcast. Jason's pointers are clear as a bell. I feel a fraud, but know I'm not! (Know "I'm" not - get it?) Lame attempts at humour arise in consciousness, pretty often actually.

The number of new listeners and visitors is steadily increasing each day but the comments are not. Nothing to say may be a good sign.
'Suzanne part two' will be along soon and some other new voices to the Urban Guru Cafe will follow in due course. - Warm regards - Gilbert.

Hi Suki, I have just listened to Jason's podcast again and appreciate how he points to what I like to call "amness" before the story kicks in and any reminders of this are much appreciated. I really do like all the music in this podcast and love the humour at the end when I think it is Gilbert saying "throw another guru on the barbie".

Really good podcast with Jason, very clear,
good music,   UGC is a treasure trove;
pointing to this immutable immediate intimacy
in so many different ways.
guaranteed to whack persons on their heads
left and right, wake up calls all around,
and Jason is amazingly simple and clear as a bell.

Yes,there is nothing more tangible than this certainty.
It is the most obvious and undeniable aspect of Knowing.
There is a solidity,a vast immovable immensity about it.
These are of course just words.......Silence comes closer to it.

Thanks again for doing this, loved the Bob Dylan clips. It is so great to wake up, start working and listen to a new podcast here. You are all very much appreciated for all the work you do to produce these.
