I really enjoyed listening to Richard Colling’s words. So honest, genuine, and direct.

Just yesterday I was playing with a jigsaw puzzle that one of the children received for Xmas. And I thought how similar a jigsaw puzzle is to the monkey mind. It divides the wholeness up into lots of little pieces, and then gets mesmerized trying to fit all the pieces back together again.

Meanwhile, consciousness which is already whole, watches the monkeys playing their little games. So quiet, that the monkeys don’t notice it at all.

Along the vein of “not knowing where I am, or what I am” as Richard Collins is saying @7 minutes in apx. – and in terms of Quantum Physics et al as being ‘pointers’ toward the direction of how Consciousness corresponds to the Physical World: One day while having a conversation with the local wild rabbits here in the Nevada desert, ‘consciousness spoke’ !, and it so succinctly stated “Matter is a special state that Energy has the ability to assume.”
I can neither add nor subtract or change a word of that to make it better.

At a different instance another ‘quote’ arrived, “Consciousness has an adjacency with the physical world, not an overlap.”
What the word ‘adjacency’ is meaning here is my question.

All limits are conceptual. One “bookend” to life is called “birth”, the other “death”. Such things can only happen to an appearance. You are not an appearance, you are that which they arise in.

Not one single idea is needed to be what you are. You ARE, right now, effortlessly and non-conceptually. Various forms arise within this knowing and are perhaps labelled “me” or “not-me” but, actually, it is one movement without beginning or end or division. Thoughts cannot describe something that is truely infinite, nor do they need to.

The ideas are merely descriptions or perspectives and what is aware of them and always present is what you are. Though there may seem to be identification with what appears, it will invariably pass, as do all forms, leaving what is – no “personal” involvment needed or possible.

Actually direct pointing has nothing to do with being true to the lineage. In fact Nisargadatta was verbally attacked for not teaching what his Guru taught, accused by his contemporary ‘brothers’ in the same lineage.
He trusted westerners to carry on the teaching because he knew that the Indians would always bring in the Hindu aspects and all the gods rigmarole.
We may have opinions of which book is better etc.
Whatever works for YOU. Get that right and forget about ‘others’. it may not be a book at all.
Some get comfortable with their own opinions on Non Duality and call it understanding.
Unfortunate.

The “ego” cannot dissolve, for it does not exist! “Out of body,” “seeing oneself in others” experiences are no different than having a runny nose or stubbing a toe. The recipient of “freaky” experiences may consider “himself” special because of them, but the insanity lies in the false belief in the thought of being a recipient, of being someone whose ego is dissolving. That is a ghost (the ego) speaking and that is what is freaky! Really @#$%&* freaky!

I have never encountered anything like the group of speakers here.
Each has a unique flavor, but the guts are coming from the same place.
Last night in Second Life Randall was like air traffic control grabbing thoughts out of the air and landing them- he addressed exact thoughts that have been flying around in my mind without me even asking. Words just flow out of him….

There were moments sitting there listening to Randall and watching comments from Kimo, Ronna and Jason pop up, seeing my own thoughts and other pop up and then looking at the whole SL metaphor before my eye…I don’t know how to describe it but I guess I’d say it was like one thing happening through all of these characters— no no no, that doesn’t say what I mean….. Maybe I could say that SL was producing these feelings of déjà vu with so called real life, but it was all coming from the same place.

In India there are some who are referred to as “masts”. They appear crazy but are actually walking around, caught up in God’s love. In that country they are understood. In the West, they would be locked up and the loveless would have the keys.

Cheryl, some say Nisargadatta’s book, “Prior to Consciousness” is his best. If you liked “Consciousness and the Absolute”, I’m sure you would like it. It is true to his lineage’s teachings.

“I Am That” had much input from it’s translator, Maurice Frydman. In fact, when a passage was read to Nisargadatta he said something like, “I never said that. But Maurice knows what he’s talking about, so leave it in”. And, in the later books Nisargadatta was answering only the essential questions; he didn’t limit the scope of the questions earlier.

Life is far too complex to understand (perhaps we can understand some of it’s shadows), and the only tool we have for understanding is thought, thought that is based on words, words that were created by humans and therefore limited by nature.
However in conversation words are pointers, all of them pointing to what is trying to be conveyed, we listen to another’s words and interpret them within our framework of understanding, if each person’s frameworks is aligned then they understand each other.
It took me weeks to work through the words ‘present awareness’, until I saw it was the foundation of all experience (I actually spent a large chunk of my life trying to remove what I called the ‘watcher’, because it didn’t make sense to me that something was watching everything I did).

However in saying the above, the dissolving of the ego can sometimes lead to experiences that could be taken for being ‘insane’, just to name a few irrelevant experiences I’ve had:
Out of body experiences, feeling that I’m dying because I’m leaving my body, seeing my body from outside my body, visiting other worldly places and people etc.
Transposing the ego into being a dog, cat, male, female, being the colour red, being a cube etc
Feeling everything around me is the real me and the ‘normal’ me is contained in the all encompassing ‘me’
When to talking to another person seeing that I’m actually talking to myself
Seeing I have no head, only one eye that is seeing and the myriads of direct perceptions
Seeing thoughts arise from no person
Lock me up! I’m insane!
Perhaps one day we will have a hospital for ‘people’ to go to sort out their ego dissolving issues, to help them come into balance with what is happening to them.

My goodness Gilbert you’re on fire! Thanks so much for recommending Consciousness and the Absolute. So clear! From someone who is tired of any and all bullshit I love what’s being said. It’s not for lack of wanting to KNOW, all the spare time is spent pondering, reading, listening and there is lots of spare time these days (and lots to ponder, read and listen to thanks to this site). There’s that illusion of time going on anyway. The problem it seems is this dam body, this character called ‘me’, it just feels so real. It’s just this me character that is a total illusion, get that out of the way and it’s perfectly clear and obvious. Who would choose to be fooled by liars? My guess would be nobody, but it appears the odds are stacked against us. Let’s cut to the chase and just ‘be’ in the ever perfect present where bullshit cannot thrive and where noboby is born and nobody dies. I wish!

I am now standing on Bath Spa railway platform and can hear voices. I am tired of being here before, and i am tired of being here again. But if i can tell of know. Well what would it be. Many pretenders point at duality and tell dualistic nonsense stories and call it Non Duality. A few seekers pretend to be Gurus and Teachers and other seekers believe them and HOPE it is all true. It is ALL appearances – ALL of it – there are no exceptions – there are NO enlightened separate individuals – to imply there is and that ‘I am one of them’ is bullshit – a story about an elite club of idiots who pretend to LOVE everyone – because it works for them, they get preferential treatment because they tell a big lie. You KNOW this and yet you go along with it – why?
There is Only One – and you are THAT. It is EVERY-ONE.

Every-one is actually ‘looking’ (SEEING) out of Non Duality and the mind ‘perceives’ duality and a belief in a mirage appears to happen.

Nothing is happening.

In the appearance of space and time – in the realm of ‘things appearing – tapping the dreamer on the shoulder and reminding them that it is all an illusion of mind is mostly an unwelcome message.
One in ten million will be grateful……briefly grateful as the illusion slips away.
Many would give everything they possess to GET this ‘Non Duality’ but they don’t trust the messenger and no wonder.
Most messengers deliver a crap message and ask big fees. The true messenger asks for nothing – and usually gets nothing. Why he or she continues to deliver the message is a mystery – since the majority do NOT want to hear it.

Are ‘you’ in the last days of seeking? Is the New Year coming?

Time is mind and the believed in ‘you’ will NEVER find the answer in the mind or in time. ‘Your’ prerequisites are belief in the need for support – support for the believed in ME.
To offend that ME is not appreciated but in many cases that ME must be shaken out of its tree – it is a monkey that shits everywhere and makes so much noise, insisting that it is real.
Monkey mind.

Beyond ALL activities there is absolute silence – wordless knowing – wordless reality. Why do ‘you’ ignore it?
Form is emptiness and emptiness is form.

Where is the SEEING happening?

In your own understanding and your own experience, you know that things get clearer – they appear to get clearer. The advice you may have given another ten years ago may well be quite different to what you would advise today. It is the same with Nisargadatta’s expressions.
The last book to be published from his last months is called ‘Consciousness and the Absolute’. It is not for beginners. In fact when I first read it in 1999, I could only bear to read short passages before it ripped at my core beliefs. The book went down and I sat there as if dumbfounded. At that time it appears that he had no time for pussyfooting around. All politeness went out the window.
It is my opinion that many ‘seekers’ today have been lulled into a realm of spiritual bullshit by gurus and teachers who talk utter crap. Time bound nonsense which will never break the hypnosis of the identified consciousness. Not every program on this site is razor sharp. We have included a few programs that cater for a wider audience but most of the programs carry information that can cut through the belief system very well. Ric is an example of how these programs have assisted to deliver some very potent clear pointing.

Well you have heard what he said.
The clarity of clear insight does not come from somewhere else.
The message cuts through the mind content and reveals the clarity of pure insight – it was always ‘here’ and ‘now/.
That is understood simply without the mind getting in the way.

It does not matter what your view on this site is.
This site is ‘working’ – it is dynamic and it is unconventional. It is drawing a lot of attention as well. Many want to have their link placed on the site – they want to be associated with what is happening ‘here’.
The way the site has ‘evolved’ is unique but natural.
Some weeks we have no idea who will be next to be interviewed. At some point, many times, we thought that it was enough….no more. Yet they keep coming.
There are many who are in remote places and cannot get to any ‘meetings’ being held by clear speakers…..so the internet is a ‘means’ fot them. We interview speakers who can be ‘trusted’ so to speak and provide links to their websites.
We are heading towards the completion of 2 years of programs. Have a happy new year ‘thing’ and don’t ‘over do it’.

I wasn’t aware that Ramesh had died. Not long ago I was reading someone talk about a saint (Neem Karoli Baba) dying and they said that “His consciousness left his body”. Isn’t it more accurate to say that the appearance of the body left consciousness? If the message of advaita is true, consciousness was never localized in an object called “the body”. The body is that which is transient, not the awareness it appears in and of.

Can you investigate the ‘me’ that is depressed, the ‘me’ that notices the ‘me’ that is depressed? Can you see ‘me depressed’ is only a thought, can you see ‘me not depressed’ is only a thought? Depression is a tough one. Identification, belief in a ‘me’ always causes suffering.

The Rooster crows usually ‘because’ it is dawn. The mind tries to separate the dawn from the rooster crowing, preferring the silence behind the crowing. The grouch crows usually because there is too much apple pie crap floating about. Pepper on the apple pie makes you sit up and notice the automatic response (or not).
Everything is perfect just as it is. Your objections to this perfection ’causes’ suffering for the ‘me’.
In SEEING that you are NOT that ‘me’, where can the ‘problem’ lodge and for whom?
Many are not attracted to the positive guff of gurus and teachers.
So, if you have a problem with this ‘me’ here, I say “you can stick it where the monkey keeps his nuts”. Have a happy new year – whatever that means.

in the apperance of Jacobs life as it is now depression regularaly visits always has done, in the picture now is 3 beautiful kids and a wow of wife. I would say every 3 weeks sometimes sooner a bout of it arrives darkness shadows the family, my wife questions our marrage as one would on the other end of this darkness it hangs around for a couple of days then goes and we both see our relationship in the clear veiw once again wich reminds us why were together. the kids notice this to.
as Ric says noticing that something is knowing this is all that is needed hear, theres always been a what can I do to escape this darkness as when it arises its past related as being unbearable, traped all lables that is seen though the bodty still contracts the facial expression is evil like in its looks when its hear.

Thank you Cheryl – we don’t wish links placed on the site at random.
We appreciate your gesture. However we do not recommend that book. It was written in the early years and I would suggest it was written for the locals. Many of the concepts in the book were later discarded by Nisargadatta. What we are pointing to is not cloaked in Indian terminology and is far more aligned with what Maharaj was pointing to in his last months, when he made no compromises at all. I would also add that in some cases the pointing has been made even more simple in recent times by a few so-called ‘teachers’ in the ‘same lineage’. Some may disagree and that may be because they have an idol fixation on Nisargadatta. Maybe not surpassing what Nisargadatta was pointing out (how could it truly surpass THAT which is being point TO ? ) but certainly equally potent.

Thanks to all who contributed to this podcast. Again the thought arises “this is the best one yet!” that thought arises quite often here. I liked how it flowed from beginning to end without a “station break” in the middle. I found this podcast wonderful to just lay back with eyes closed and flow with the pointers and music.

Thanks again team, great interview. I really enjoyed the science angle of this interview. I have roughly transcribed a bit of what Richard said that I particularly liked and share it here……

From a young age, I looked at the world and thought what’s going on here, science is meant to tell you what is happening.

What I found wasn’t really very satisfying, the last 300 years all western culture is based on classical physics which is, matter is fundamental, that’s the ground of all being, and from matter there was some sort of evolutionary process where a human was created – you could say – and then from that, consciousness was created from the human brain.

Classical science sort of gives a world view of you are living in a dead universe, you know, you are just a little bit of insignificant nothing that’s sort of going to get snuffed out after a short period of time, that is the separate world view.

I then started reading into quantum physics, deeper science looking at the fundamental nature of what’s going on and quantum physics showed if there is no one there to look at what’s happening, there is no event.

Up until then science had totally removed, just ignored consciousness, effectively termed ignorance. Consciousness was taken out of the picture completely, but with quantum physics there is a field of functioning before matter, of pure intelligence, that is effectively infinite in its possibilities and it’s beyond time and space and what I am saying is this field, this quantum field is just a conceptual description for consciousness.

Can it really be that simple? Look in the immediacy. I’ve been asking myself the question ‘was I ever born’? The mind says unequivocally yes! The only thing that stops it is to remember it is just a concept. A memory of what someone told me. As Richard says even science can’t explain it, what you are. Nothing can. It is just known beyond the grasping. The only thing that obscures it is that which covers it up. A false idea that you can be known in the mind, believing you are a body/mind and somehow separate. Still working it out. Happily there is no fear of failure. Good to know others were where I am. Thanks for another great speaker. I look forward to the God interview.:)

Well if this is trash then I must have jumped on the wrong bus – Theories about who knows his true nature and who does not are just concepts. Best to know your own true nature, then it will not matter – yet you will ‘know’ quite clearly anything you need to know.

Generally speaking, famous ‘people’ have a distorted ‘psyche’ and a twisted neck from trying to catch a glimpse of themselves in every passing window, mirror or magazine. Whatever we say, it does not matter, everyone is THAT – it is ONE ESSENCE expressing and appearing AS everything – no exceptions. Now if your mind assigns this the trash bin, then I am pretty sure no one here will be able to help you. Still, you have no choice. As the old Manfred Mann song goes “If you gotta go, go now, or else you gotta stay all night”

An unconventional Christmas Story, made up on the spot. Since I only know the first scene, I will discover what happens in the story, same as you. Spontaneous creative writing is what I call it.
Walking in the garden, I noticed an old guy sitting in the corner near the roses. I went up to him. His long white beard was wet with tears.
I asked him what he was doing here. He said “I planted two trees in the Greater Common Garden, just down the road a ways, planted way back when Adam was the Caretaker. I just wanted to check on things.”
“Oh, I see” I said finally twigging onto who this guy actually was. “But what are the tears all about?” I added.
His answer was “Well a few of the arch angels threw a party for my Son yesterday and he was a little upset about some stubborn folks down here and he was shedding a few tears off and on all day. He is usually quite cheerful most of the time”.
I said “That explains His wet beard but it doesn’t answer my question about your wet beard”.
His answer was cryptic: “Well, we are very close and besides it’s my party and I will cry if I want to”.
He saw the puzzled look in my face and added, “All parties held in my Kingdom are ‘my parties’. The tears stopped soon enough but the feeling lingers awhile, so when I came down here and saw that one of my trees was being almost totally neglected by ‘these monkeys’ I left in charge, in charge of ‘the Greater Common Garden’, I felt a pang of sadness. So, I went looking around and found this small garden out back of this quaint little Urban Guru Cafe.”
He smiled as he looked around the garden pausing a little longer gazing at the well pruned Tree of Knowledge.
“When I saw that both trees here are healthy and thriving, some tears welled up, not from sadness but from a kind of relief.” He continued…“In the Greater Common Garden the Tree of Knowledge gets far too much attention while the Tree of Life withers away, thus causing all kinds of mishaps for these caretakers of this particular planet. And I left strict instructions, clear and precise, NOT to eat the fruit of that tree and what do I find? I see that a large proportion of these ‘critters’ have bellies full of that fruit, full to the point of bursting in some of them and the seeds scattered all over the place with abandon. Sheesh.”
He shrugged his shoulder and added with a put on Jewish accent“Hey, what can you do? – these smucks, these monkey men down here need a good kick in the butt every few days”
At that moment a spontaneous idea pop up in my mind. “Since you are here now, please come inside, I have a friend named Areti and I am sure she would love to interview you.”
He gazed into the heavens and seemed to ponder for a minute or two, then said “Alright, that sounds good and I want to clear up some details about a series of books some monkey published under the title of ‘conversation with…’ me. One of the Angels gave me a copy of it and although it is an example of harmless creative writing, I never met that monkey and having ‘My Word’ misrepresented, although very common ‘down here’, it does ‘piss me off’ from time to time. So clearing up a few of these misrepresentations might be a ‘good thing’.
We then went into the Cafe and that interview will be published in due course. Maybe we will call it “God’s Word”.
So enjoy the festive season and remember ‘It’s my party and I will cry if I want to’…..and pleasure and pain are like profit and gain – sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
(The two trees are the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life – copycat wanna be Buddhas always sit under the wrong one)

This was fantastic, have listened 5 times. This site is quickly becoming one of my top favorites. Very clear, straightforward, simple pointers.

I must admit I find it more difficult to look at “what is looking” when it is a furry, purring kitty in my lap versus a angsty feeling of misery.

Incredible to hear exact thoughts of ‘joe’ expressed through Ric (prior to recognition).

As soon as Ric (and others) say “It’s already the case” thoughts translate to “yeah but not now” and put it off waiting for an experience or confirmation.

What more could anyone get for christmas than a fresh bit of Kiwi classicness ,maybe they got it wrong maybe santa is actually an Aussi beauty, over here its still christmas eve , the 3 little ones have all hanged there stockings up at the end of there beds enchanted still with the magic and beliefe in santa, they were all asleep and the secret stocking feeling mission was just about to comennce when our eldest srung upright “has santa been yet” after being asleep for 5 minutes ,so now I wait patintly for the mission to begin again I think this could be along wait, Mary has already pollished off santas choclate biscuits im left with rudolphs carrots a bit off the topic but classic all the same
look foward to hearing richards simple expression of this , Jacob x
