87. Jiddu Krishnamurti – Choiceless awareness

This is our second program on Jiddu Krishnamurti. He was discovered and announced as a ‘World Teacher’ by Dr. Annie Besant of the Theosophical Society, he later renounced the position saying that “Truth is a Pathless Land”. This program actually contains certain salient points that are a key to understanding the ‘situation’ we find ourselves in. These points may pass over your head unless you pay close attention. I advise you listen to what he says as often as it takes for them to reveal themselves clearly. The previous program on J. Krishnamurti should also be listened to again if necessary. Remember that it is not about the messenger. The clarity of the pointing is what this is all about. Krishnamurti was often very blunt with his pointing. This program is a stand alone pointer. In effect, as a producer, I have taken the salient points and given them new life in a new form. This program expresses the basics, without all the unnecessary extras. The bare bones of it all is in this presentation.

84. Jiddu Krishnamurti – The Essence of Freedom, is Seeing.

THE URBAN GURU CAFE IS A FREE PODCAST, a small aperture opening onto the Universal Truths, the natural state of simple being-ness. Expressions that do not ask you to believe in anything. Just see for yourself. Speakers who point clearly, without making a fuss about who they are or about what they say. We trust that you will find what you need in some of these 84 programs.

Some of the essential points which J. Krishnamurti shared. In the appearance, he taught for over 40 years. How many heard his simple pointers? Here is another ‘chance’ for those who missed what he points to. Remember that it is not about the messenger. The usual worshiping of the messenger is a trap. In 1929 Krishnamurti dissolved ‘The Order’, which, he was the head of because he recognized that he was being turned into an idol of worship. He says: “I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally. Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever, cannot be organized; nor should any organization be formed to lead or coerce people along any particular path. If you first understand that, then you will see how impossible it is to organize a belief. A belief is purely an individual matter, and you cannot and must not organize it. If you do, it becomes dead, crystallized; it becomes a creed, a sect, a religion, to be imposed on others”..(end of quote). It seems that human nature is always slipping into the state of worshiping something ‘objective’- so bondage appears to happen. Thus the essence of freedom is forgone. Even so, the Essence that you are is always free. It is the nature of the Cosmic Consciousness. One needs to recognize this, and see without the conditioned mind – recognize that naked seeing is the essential freedom – which is completely available to everyone.

We found Christine on a video interview with Rafael Stoneman on facebook – then we contacted her and here is the ‘result’. Christine is NOT an Advaita Teacher. She is simple – in the nicest possible way – her responses do not come from some tradition. She lives in Canada.

Music is composed by a friend of Christines, the piece is called “Elixirs for the Human Heart” from The Science of Peace series by Larry Seyer and David Wilcox. The last piece of vocal music is by Vas and is called ‘Unbecoming’.

UG Krishnamurti is expressing directness through these recordings. These last three programs may signify a cutting away of erroneous beliefs. It is a celebration of a messenger who refused to be categorized. There is no teaching – no teacher – just pointing. Whether it resonates or not appears to depend on the willingness to let go of preconceived ideas. The resistance is the ‘me’.

In this program the legendary British actor Terence Stamp reads selected extracts from the book that he says “changed his life”, Perfect Brilliant Stillness by David Carse. These extracts, like the full unabridged audiobook (which can be download for a reasonable fee from Silksoundbooks), is an exploration of our ‘existence’ – THAT, which cannot be denied. In The fine print at the start of his book, David Carse wrote: There are many books out there that will help you to live a better life, become a better person, evolve and grow to realize your potential as a spiritual being. This is not one of them.

It should be noted that the various audio selections used in this program amounts ot a mere fraction of the full version. The book is quite extensive and covers many aspects of this ‘subject’.

Kenneth Madden is from Galway, Ireland, and is a relatively unknown ‘speaker’ on Non Duality. That ‘relatively unknown’ is about to change and many will enjoy Kenneth’s expression, simple and direct. The grasping consciousness known as ‘the seeker’ ignores the obvious and wants ‘God himself’ to come down out of the clouds and be his personal teacher. Sadly many believe that God has done just that. It is all Bunkum.

Areti interviews Richard Collings. Richard came to our notice through some comment he made on this site. We think you will be quite interested in what he shares. Ric: “Up until then, science had totally removed, just ignored consciousness, effectively termed ignorance. Consciousness was taken out of the picture completely, but (then) with quantum physics there is a field of functioning before matter, of pure intelligence, that is effectively infinite in its possibilities and its beyond time and space – and what I am saying is that this field, this quantum field, is just a conceptual description for consciousness.”

The Urban Guru Cafe is dedicated to spreading a clear message from a variety of clear ‘speakers’, speakers who do not make compromises or ask for you to believe in them or in anything. The proof that they are genuine is in the fact that many ‘hear’ the message and their habit of seeking slips away silently. Many find William’s expression refreshing and free of a lot of the terminology we are used to. The voice of William is taken from a tape recording that he himself recorded in his study. CD’s of similar recordings are available from his website, which is managed by Sandy. Sandy appears in the comment pages also. William’s delivery may appear just a little dated now but what he is saying is from the ever-fresh ‘knowing’ which is authentic and definitely genuine. Many may be surprised to learn that he was sharing this message regularly for many years in their own country, the USA.

The VIEW from ‘the last stepping stone’, on the pathless path, is the same VIEW from ‘the first stepping stone’. This Seeing NOW.

Pointers appear and disappear – what they all point to never appears… and so it never can disappear. Just the same is what you are has never truly appeared or disappeared. Knowing is all that is ‘happening’. Everything appears in the knowing – including the ‘knowing of’, the ‘conscious of’.

You ARE this SEEING-KNOWING-ESSENCE, the knowing of all things, which only ever forms into the transient patterns of ‘a seer’ and ‘the seen‘. The unchanging is what you ARE. This knowing does not need a pattern to associate with and all patterns come and go ‘upon’ the unchanging essence of ‘I am’.

Areti continues this interview with Rodney Stevens.

Rodney says: Non-duality isn’t something that’s difficult, “far-off”, or metaphysical (though its sublimeness is without parallel). It is, for the most part, a teaching that points to the fact that self-realization is simply a matter of seeing or understanding that which is immediately before you. There is absolutely no need examine egoic constructs, debate notions of a perceiver and the perceived, or sit cross-legged on a floor or cave until you faint from exhaustion or exposure. On the 27th Sept 2009 – two days ago, Ramesh Balsekar ‘passed away’. The physical body is a transient appearance. For those who feel a heavy weight because of Ramesh’s ‘departure’ – come back to what he was pointing to, in yourself. Your true essence. Joy is in that simplicity of being. The attachment to the guru is a gift – ‘a final teaching’. In that, there is the potential to truly grasp what was being pointed out all along. May all of his followers be delivered quickly and painlessly into their true essence. – Gilbert

“You may think that you are the doer – I assure you that you have never done a thing” – Ramesh – and “According to my concepts” -Ramesh

Ramesh: “What is the significance of the statement ‘No one can get enlightenment’? This is the very root of the teaching. It means that it’s stupid for any so-called master to ask anyone to do anything to achieve or get enlightenment. The core of this simple statement means, according to my concept, that enlightenment is the annihilation of the ‘one’ who ‘wants’ enlightenment. If there is enlightenment – which can only happen because it is the will of God – then it means the ‘one’ who had earlier wanted enlightenment has been annihilated. So no ‘one’ can achieve enlightenment and therefore no ‘one’ can enjoy enlightenment.”

From an interview – Chris Parish to Ramesh – How can we say that we know it is destiny or God’s will? All we know is that certain events take place. Afterward, we can look back on something we did and say, “It just happened,” and if we like, we can call it destiny. But isn’t it more accurate to say that we don’t really know whether it is destiny or not? Saying that we don’t know is different from saying “We know that it is God’s will.” It’s different from saying we know that everything is fixed. You see, it sounds to me like you’re saying that you do know that everything is the will of God.
Ramesh – We don’t know, and that is the bottom line; so if you like, you can drop the concept of destiny and say that nobody can really know anything. Fine!
