This tape is from January 1981. The atmosphere is ‘alive’ with activities and the pointing is constant. Jean Dunn was present in the meeting. Jean published three books of transcripts from tapes similar to these ones featured here on the UGC. The word Fakir is used several times at one point. A Fakir is a Yogi, trained to go beyond the body. An example is: a bed of nails is used by a Fakir.

A recording of Helen Adie playing a Gurdjieff piano piece from a collection of music called “Dances and Chants of the Seids” – an unusually ‘moving’ piece of music.

Point of interest: Helen Adie, a concert pianist during her early life in London, was Gilbert’s ‘sacred dance’ (‘movements’) teacher for many years. She played Piano for the Movement Classes in Paris (Fontainebleau) for G.I. Gurdjieff . Helen and her husband George Adie were pupils of Gurdjieff. This music, along with many other pieces, was recorded by Gilbert in the 80′s. There is a 3 CD set of the music available (or was for a few years). It may be hard to find. Some of the pieces are exceptionally ‘moving’. As I remember it, Helen was flown to the US to play pieces for the production of Peter Brook’s film, on Gurdjieff’s early life, called “Meetings with Remarkable Men”. Some of the ‘movements’ appear in that film. You can see them on google video.

One of the most profound texts of all time on the subject of Non Duality. If one were only to have this text to contemplate, it is enough. Its rich content touches the unfathomable nature of our existence. Written by the Chinese Third Patriarch of Chan (Zen in Japanese). His name, Chien-chih Seng-ts’an or Jianzhi Sengcan. The author is also known by the name Sosan in Japan. It seems fitting that so little is known about the author. The text transcends ‘the personal’ and reveals something profound about our true nature. If you have heard it before, then listen to it as fresh and new – because it IS fresh and new. Ram Dass said he read it for a very long time without understanding breaking through. Then it opened up into a profound meaning (paraphrasing). One can listen to it many times and its profundity is not diminished.

This program contains Part 1 of 2 parts of the text. Part two will appear in due course.
The excellent reading of the text is by Ram Dass. The second half of this program is a visit to a meeting at Bob Adamson’s Place.

All concepts are ephemeral by nature, and they cannot bind Awareness – they simply are awareness itself appearing as forms ‘in or on’ Awareness. This program is all about this fact. Being is silent – just as in nature, the realm of concepts and expressions may also elicit a resonance in being.

This is a relaxed exploration via various ‘pointers’. Recorded in the backyard garden – the birds join in.

Bob Adamson opens his meetings in Melbourne, Australia with an uninterrupted talk which always points us to our true essence in many simple and beautiful ways.

This program features an excerpt of one of these talks. Its full 50 minute length, along with another 15 minute closing talk… both of Bob speaking without questions… will soon be in an upcoming CD and available on Bob’s website. A must have! We’ll keep you posted.

This is the third program in the pointers series examining Bob Adamson’s pointer that the answer is not in the mind – “Full stop, pause a thought, what is wrong with right now if you don’t think about it?” he tells us.

Included in the program is a short introduction by Gilbert Schultz. This is the first of a series of programs on pointers used in advaita. The pointer explored in this program is ‘You are already that’, a pointer used by Bob Adamson. Parallels are drawn between this pointer and one used by Nisagardatta of staying with the ‘I am.’

The two advaita ‘teachers’ who feature in the program are Gilbert Schultz and Bob Adamson. In the program, Gilbert Schultz explains what a pointer is as well as introduces the pointer we are exploring. There are many out there claiming to be ‘teaching’ non duality (advaita), but which of them really are? If your chosen teacher is making claims that he or she is enlightened then maybe you need to reconsider how useful such a ‘teacher’ is.

This podcast features audio clips that define what advaita ‘teaching’ is about and discuss the notion of ‘enlightenment.’ Three advaita ‘teachers’ in the program are Bob Adamson, Tony Parsons and Gilbert Schultz.
