The Urban Guru Cafe is now a “real” place.  The UGC has come to Second Life.

What is the SL UGC?

SL is Second Life – Second Life is the virtual world where you get an avatar (a physical presence, a “body”), and you can walk around, attend meetings, buy things, play games, chat with others from all over the world, etc.

At the SL UGC, you can listen to the episodes while you drink a tall black, chat with other visitors “face-to-face”, and visit the website from the Official UGC Laptop.  This is a location where listeners can meet each other and either chat via text or voice, all live and “virtual”.

What is happening at the SL UGC?

There are presently meetings happening at the SL UGC – Jason Swanson and Randall Friend hold weekly meetings, where avatars from all over the world come to listen and ask questions.  We will also be planning some live meetings – UGC speakers will hold talks and answer sincere questions from those present.  This page will contain schedules and updates on any upcoming meetings.

How do I attend?

To visit, you will need to go into Second Life.  Joining SL is free – you just have to download the client, choose your avatar, pick your name, and then you’re free to move about.

Once you have joined SL, downloaded and installed the SL  client, click HERE to go to the SL UGC (opens in Second Life application).

Will SL run on my computer?

Check out the SL system requirements to find out.  In addition to the computer requirements, a headset is necessary if you wish to use voice chat.  You can always use text chat without a headset but voice chat is better.

When are the meetings?

Tuesdays – 7 PM Pacific/10 PM Eastern

Sundays – 6 AM Pacific/9 AM Eastern
