Awareness is still in the story of dualism…it is a functional thing…actually there is only being which is nothing being everything…the formless in form…so “awareness of” can’t be forgotten as it is an other mind trick…if nothing happens what can be held onto?…

What makes it possible for ‘you’ or anyone to make (these) distinctions between awareness and being? -Surely ‘awareness’ and ‘being’ does. Can you separate awareness from being with or without a concept? Being is just a word, same as awareness is just a word. What they refer to is the same-same. Awareness, Being, Presence, Conscious-ness are nothing but various aspects of THIS “One without a second” and THIS in essence is NO THING.

Chiseling our definitions in ’stone’ and hanging onto our ‘opinions’ is tantamount to ‘bondage of self’. Some teachers use the word Being, some use Awareness. It may be confusing to listen to more then one teacher. And arguing about Oneness is obviously useless.
Can ‘you’ get out of this awareness of being? Can this knowing, this presence of knowing be negated? – that ever present indefinable presence of being-knowing is what we refer to as awareness.
P.S. - Tony and Bob express their concepts about IT, so to speak.
No right - no wrong - No concept is ever IT.

But awareness could be identified as a safety place, like the witness…and it is still a state that comes and goes…what is pointed to by some is this ininterrupted silence or nothingness which gives rise to everything including awareness…but “awareness of” is dualistic because it needs something to be aware of…there is just “this” which is both nothing and everything…ultimately there is just nothingness and not even that!…

‘Who’ identifies awareness as a safety place or as anything at all?
This is not a forum - so let’s not make it into one.

When seeing arises, no one has pressed a button to make the seeing happen…it just happens automatically.

When hearing arises, no one has pressed a button to make the hearing happen…it just happens automatically!

When knowingness arises no one has pressed a button to make it happen…it just happens automatically!

When the ‘I’ arises… and claims the seeing or the hearing or the knowing as an experience…then the subject/object relationship occurs.

As Gilbert’s book says very clearly, you are that essence prior to ANYTHING arising in the mind, including the ‘I’…and that knowingness or essence is unable to be negated.

This podcast site is fantastic! I love all the segments that feature Bob. He’s as clear as they ever come–I’d rather chat with Bob than a re-animated Nisargadatta or Ramana. Just don’t wear him out with all your crazy questions in the meantime before I get out there next year to see Big Bob and do some surfing in Melbourne. I also love this narrator’s voice. I could listen to her say “who wants to know” “who gives a crap” or “who does it grab” any day of the week.
